Pediatric Nephrology Clinician Educator (Open Rank) Opportunity:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) John Sealy School of Medicine in Galveston is seeking a full-time Pediatric Nephrology Clinician Educator at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This is a unique opportunity to join a nationally recognized academic health system and a collaborative team of clinicians dedicated to advancing care for children. UTMB is building a world-class kidney program, anchored by a robust research and clinical enterprise in adult nephrology. While pediatric nephrology is currently a smaller division, this position offers exciting opportunities to collaborate with leading kidney experts and contribute to the growth of pediatric kidney care.


This position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, contribute to the education of pediatric residents and medical students, and engage in meaningful clinical care across UTMB’s Galveston Island and Clear Lake campuses.


Primary clinical responsibilities include providing comprehensive services for children with renal diseases in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The position also involves active participation in medical education, including teaching and mentoring pediatric residents and medical students.

Position Overview:
This full-time academic role combines clinical care and education within a collaborative health system. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide comprehensive pediatric nephrology care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support the division’s clinical and educational missions.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.


Qualifications:
Required

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school. 
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program and Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship. 
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Pediatric Nephrology. 
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted Texas medical license. 
  • U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care and medical education.
    Preferred
  • Five years of clinical experience.
  • Prior academic experience in resident and medical student education.


Income Package:
Salary will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience, and includes a very obtainable RVU bonus program. In addition, UTMB offers a superior benefits package, including an excellent retirement program and a relocation allowance.
