Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent; 3 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in related field
Preferred Skills/Competency:
- Incumbent should be competent in MS Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook E-mail, Microsoft Web Expression (or other web development software); experience with Blackboard, Gradebook and Access.
- Prefer applicant with medical terminology experience and spelling aptitude.
- Ability to work well and in a collaborative manner in a team environment as well as independently when necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management skills highlighting abilities to multi-task multiple projects, prioritize, organize, strategically plan, problem solve and meet deadlines in an organized and detail-oriented manner.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Prefer applicant with 3 years of experience coordinating academic or educational programs..
- Prior work with faculty members and/or upper-level management.
Job Description:
To manage activities for a project or program.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with students, faculty and staff in the John Sealy John Sealy School of Medicine and in an academic health-science center, coordinating course activities related to students in Years 1 through 4 courses.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a liaison between and provide assistance to students and teaching faculty.
- Coordinate and provide support for courses in Years 1 through 4 as assigned.
- Ensure specified course goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with academic policies and procedures.
- Maintain, update and revise course website(s) in Blackboard.
- Arrange and manage scheduling and room reservations.
- Arrange and attend course committee meetings, staff meetings and training sessions.
- Coordinate course lab activities as assigned.
- Create/edit/produce/publish educational and assessment materials.
- Proctoring SOM exams.
- Create Gradebook templates, prepare and confirm score calculations, post course scores and final grades.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow FERPA guidelines.
- Access, enter course and validate student grades via MyStar system.
- Maintain organized filing system (both digital and paper files) including required pre- and post-course checklists. Prepare files annually for records retention following appropriate guidelines.
- Support overall function of the Office of Educational Affairs, with other duties as assigned.
- This cross-functional position supports multiple functions across Educational Affairs with other duties as assigned.
- This position requires working physically and in-person at multiple locations across the Galveston campus.
- Performs related duties as required.
Salary Range: Actual salary commensurate with experience or range if discussed and approved by hiring authority $57,800.
