HCSS Pediatric Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) RN
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Demonstrates ability to remove patient from ECMO for emergencies
Demonstrates ability to remove air from circuit
Demonstrates ability to hand crank in the case of pump failure
Demonstrates ability to assist with decannulation procedure
Demonstrates competency in documenting on ECMO flow sheet
Demonstrates ability to compose ECMO progress note in EPIC for assigned shift
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: · RN with current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas. · Two (2) years of inpatient hospital experience within the last 2 years. · Must have current BLS and PALS, or NRP certification obtained through American Heart Association (AHA) EQUIPMENT: • Able to use equipment and related supplies for a selected patient population. • Able to use mechanical devices, such as those used in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen administration, and intravenous therapy. Show competency in point of care testing (POCT) and quality requirements for that testing. • Able to use related computer equipment.
