EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years experience in related department

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of supervisory experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Must hold a current registry from one of the below organizations:
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
    • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
    • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
    • American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
    • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • If holding a registration through ARRT or NMTCB must also hold a Texas Medical Board license as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mult-modality experience preferred
  • CT experience preferred
  • Lead / Supervisor experience preferred

JOB SUMMARY: 

Scope: Under the direction of the Manager, assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the Imaging service line(s) utilizing quality, cost effective patient care principles. Be a resource to and educate the physicians, staff, students, and other customers who utilize radiology services.

Function: Supervises, supports and develops staff. This may include supervision of duties directly involving a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation or other forms of energy. This also involves supervising and evaluating the needs of the technologists and ancillary personnel assigned within specific areas of the department. In conjunction with the Imaging Manager, coordinates the hiring of staff, scheduling of personnel, and repair of equipment.

This position will work with the Imaging Manager on day to day operations.

This Imaging Technical Supervisor will have oversight of the Limited Medical Radiographic Technologists and RTs covering the urgent cares and ambulatory clinics. They will be responsible for scheduling, staffing, QC compliance, image quality and ongoing training and operations.  They will work in partnership with the ambulatory site administrators to ensure overall compliance and quality of imaging services. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills, a collaborator and meticulous organizer. Candidate must be an licensed Radiologic Technologist with a minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborates with Radiology Medical Director to coordinate daily operations by directing staff and Resources to optimize patient care and efficiency. To include monitoring daily schedule and adjusting staffing patterns accordingly.
  • With input and support from the Manager, responsible for effective hiring, orientation, training, mentoring and coaching of staff, to ensure a well-trained, high performing team. Provide ongoing
  • recognition, feedback and development, holding staff accountable for meeting expected goals and behaviors. Provide input for a staffing plan that meets both customer expectations and financial constraints.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to other’s views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team goals; and put the success of the team above own interests.
  • Coaches staff to assure a quality, customer-service oriented team is present. Investigates complaints and errors, safety issues, and “near misses”. Handles staff performance-related issues in collaboration with Manager and accordance with Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for procurement, storage, and routing of supplies. Works closely with institution departments responsible for procurement and vendor representatives to optimize competitive pricing and resourceful supply maintenance.
  • Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, JC and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. Disseminates and ensures compliance with department and institutional policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Responsible for effective and timely staff communications to ensure all are apprised of information and changes in a timely manner. Plans, prepares and conducts regular staff meetings and participates in huddles and other communication strategies.
  • Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital. Provides input to the development of business/strategic plans, leads projects, teams and participates in hospital workgroups/ PI teams and committees.
  • Gathers data and participates in the department’s quality assurance and improvement plan to achieve a defined level of quality and appropriateness of patient care services.
  • Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care and Radiation Safety.
  • Ensures the quality of the digital processing and imaging equipment. Monitors the status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated down time, and documents the effects on patient care as required.
  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge and skills specific to information systems utilized in patient care.
  • Assists in developing annual budget and takes appropriate action when appropriate to maintain control of department financial resources. Complete monthly reconciliation reports as directed.

  • Meets periodic UTMB and unit specific compliance requirements for health screening, training, attendance, safety, BLS and ACLS.
