Graduate of an accredited radiology program
5+ years of experience
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-R)
- American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-VI) or American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-CV)
- Texas Medical Board Certification (MRT)
American Heart Association (BLS and PALS)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Lead Interventional Radiology Technologist is an experienced technologist competent in a variety of routine & complex procedures. This position is a member of the direct patient care & imaging leadership team. This position is a member of the direct patient care & imaging leadership team.
The Lead Interventional Radiology Technologist serves under the direction of the imaging Manager/Sr. Manager and/or Director and is expected to function with initiative and creativity with the objective of department efficiency and technical excellence and safety. This position must demonstrate the ability to rely on experience to initiate proper judgment, manage multiple tasks, and engage as a department leader within a limited supervised environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs all essential job functions of an Interventional Radiology Technologist II in specialty area 50-80% of time. Lead Technologist administrative duties below are performed 20-50% of scheduled time.
- Provides leadership and supervision to staff in the absences of the site manager.
- Creates and manages staff schedule to include vacation/time off requests.
- Mentors junior team members, students, residents, & fellows.
- Assigns breaks and meal periods, while keeping the department adequately staffed.
- Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.
- Reports and documents problems relating to staffing.
- Advocates and rounds on patient experience tool utilization.
- Provides new employee orientation of the department.
- Promptly escalates issues, which affect product delivery and quality.
- Actively participates in departmental accreditation submission and maintenance.
- Monitors condition, care, and maintenance of imaging equipment.
- Adheres to and enforces prescribed standards of radiation & magnetic resonance safety.
- Participates and leads departmental performance improvement, QA/QC and quality control programs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the events/occurrence reporting system. Uses system to reports patient safety issues.
- Accurately assess and critique images for diagnostic evaluation.
- Completes Kronos timecard maintenance.
- Performs daily, weekly and/or monthly departmental charge reconciliation
SALARY
Commensurate with experience.
SCHEDULE
M-F 8-4:30 with rotating calls.
