Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years’ experience in public/media relations, marketing, journalism or related field.

Department Marketing Statement:

Seeking an eager individual who will be responsible for driving, developing, maintaining, improving, implementing, troubleshooting, assisting with, advising on, overseeing, measuring, and guiding all marketing, media and communications for the School of Public and Population Health (SPPH).  Serves as the SPPH liaison and the primary source in dissemination of all communications for the SPPH. 

Job Summary: 
Reporting to the institutional Marketing, Communications and Business Development Office, this role supports the university’s strategic priorities by employing a broad range of communications, media relations and marketing skills to inform and engage internal and/or external audiences. This role plays a key part in advancing awareness of UTMB and its mission areas as well as driving clinical business to UTMB physicians, hospitals and other health care services. Position will collaborate with internal teams as well as university programs and department stakeholders.  Position includes direct communication with target audiences, as well as activities that facilitate communication by the President and other university executives, as well as programs and departments.


Job Duties:

  • Develops internal/external communications.
  • Writes and assists with design for advertisements – print, digital, direct mail, etc.
  • Helps develop and execute school’s social media presence.
  • Writes general materials which can be used for digital, print, etc.
  • Collaborates with SPPH leadership to develop creative concepts and collateral materials.
  • Develops media pitches to promote school.
  • Helps develop and execute integrated marketing plans for recruitment.
  • Manage and maintain SPPH web sites aimed at internal and external audiences.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience    in    the    development    and    execution    of    integrated    marketing    and communications plans.
  • Exhibits clear knowledge of marketing and communications tools, including digital, print, direct mail, new media, outdoor, television, radio.
  • Experience tracking, analyzing and reporting results of marketing/social media campaigns.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and respond quickly, creatively, professionally, and flexibly. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively and directly with people at all levels.
  • Proficient use of the Adobe suite of creative software, Microsoft Office, etc.

Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
