Patient Representative I - Patient Services (Galveston)
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent in related field and no experience required.

To provide assistance in all phases and activities associated with the patient relations programs.
Department Marketing Statement
This position serves as a liaison between the patient, families and the UTMB executive leadership team, physicians and staff. The advocate serves as a central resource for information concerning patient rights, service recovery and provides a formal grievance mechanism for UTMB Health. This is an exciting opportunity to work with UTMB leadership by using data and patient feedback to drive patient experience improvement opportunities. The advocate masters an understanding of our mission, policies and procedures to respond to patient questions or concerns, as well as educate staff and physicians concerning these issues.
In this critical role, you will help patients best utilize the healthcare system. The advocate needs to be have excellent communication skills and be able to speak effectively with a wide variety of audiences. The Department of Patient Services supports the entire UTMB Health System. This position will be primarily based in Galveston.
Job Duties:
- Interviews patients who need service and provides information about patient services.
- Interprets the institution's policies and procedures.
- Documents and reports results of patient interviews.
- Consults with patients or patients' families to identify any sources of difficulty in obtaining services.
- Communicates any problems to all departments involved and follows through until satisfactory solutions are found.
- Relays information concerning problems to patients and staff members.
- Makes referrals to appropriate departments and services within the hospital.
- Analyzes and evaluates services rendered to improve the quality of patient care.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs related duties as required
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
