Physician, CHS, CMC - PARTIAL
The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of patients, via digital medical services. Works under the general direction of the UTMB Correctional Managed Care CHS medical director with extensive latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that appropriate healthcare is accessible and provided in a timely manner via digital services.
- Renders final medical judgement regarding care provided to inmates in assigned area per approved UTMB Correctional Managed Care treatment algorithms and practices.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office and telemedicine equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Standard office environment. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must hold a current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Must hold current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) controlled substances registration.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
