Postdoctoral Fellow - Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Post Doc Fellows
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position and is not expected to be a permanent position.
Dr. Haiqing Zhao’s research lab at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), in the Dept. of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and the Sealy Center for Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics, focuses on developing and applying computational approaches to predict and study Protein-Protein Interactions (PPIs) at both molecular and systems-wide levels. Right now, we are seeking a dedicated and motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge ML/AI research projects focusing on various aspects of bioinformatics, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Detailed projects include studying Host-Pathogen Interactomes and PPI theory in general. Projects of Host-Pathogen interaction will collaborate with Galveston National Lab (BSL-4). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in computational biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
- Analyze big data and interpret results to contribute to ongoing projects.
- Collaborate with team members to design and implement new research protocols.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific conferences.
- Mentor graduate students and assist in training laboratory personnel on relevant techniques.
- Stay current with advancements in the field through literature review and participation in seminars.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Chemistry/Biology/Biophysics, or a related field.
- Strong background in research methodologies relevant to the position.
- Proficiency in programming language such as python, or C/C++.
- Experience in using ML/AI models in studying computational biology questions.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and presentation of research findings.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced research environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
