Postdoctoral Fellow - Neurology
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work on the continuation of NIH- and foundations-funded projects in Dr. Kayed’s lab focusing on Neurodegenerative tauopathies.
- Investigate the biochemistry and cellular mechanisms for the formation and toxicity in protein aggregates.
- Apply biochemical, biophysical, immunological, molecular methods to characterize amyloidogenic proteins and aggregates polymorphs
- Investigate the diversity of the brain-derived oligomeric amyloid polymorphs in tau aggregation and the mechanism of their toxicity and spreading in cell models, primary cultures, and animal models
- Perform experiments, analyze data and results, prepare figures, write manuscripts for publication, and supervise other lab members, as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous research experience in the protein biochemistry, cell biology and neuroscience.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
