EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associates of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited radiology program
  • 3+ years of experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-R)
  • American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-VI) or American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-CV)
  • Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)
  • American Heart Association (BLS)
  • America Heart Association ACLS and PALS obtained within 6 months of hire

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Interventional Radiology Technologist II position is an experienced technologist who completes a variety of routine to complex body and neuro-interventional procedures, including common and unique procedures of high difficulty. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of Interventional Radiology. The Interventional Technologist II position serves as a mentor to the Interventional
Technologist I and students by utilizing skills and knowledge to help train and educate others. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above-average clinical skills on challenging Interventional procedures and patient care situations. The InterventionalTechnologist II position provides direct assistance to physicians with all Interventional procedures. This position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to Interventional Radiology exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Promotes a positive work environment.
  • Collaborates with all members of the patient care team.
  • Guides and mentors Interventional Radiology Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge, and abilities. 
  • Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement. 
  • Utilizes active communication and reports pertinent patient care information in a comprehensive manner.
  • Proactive in responding to patient needs.
  • Assists in the performance of Interventional procedures, using a wide variety of imaging equipment and specialty supplies
  • Optimizes protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality, and patient experience. This includes positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. 
  • Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique. 
  • Utilizes AIDET, incorporating Key Words and MANGAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.
  • Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures to include common and special diagnostic and fluoroscopic exams of complex nature.
  • Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) 
  • Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.
  • Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures.
  • Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies. 
  • Identifies LEAN opportunities and WASTE, providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. 
  • Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into the appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate. 
  • Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use.
  • Assists with implementation and education of department based safety initiatives and standards of practice.
  • Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.
  • Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. 
  • Ensure their personal timecard is accurate and approve it in a timely manner to prevent retro amendments.
  • Leads departmental special projects, initiatives and/or shared governance activities.
  • Seeks opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development. 
  • Fosters a positive and constructive teaching environment. 

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Work schedule:

Casual Appointment (Less than 19.99 hours/week)
