Radiology Technical Assistant - MRI (Sat-Wed 4pm to 12am)
JOB DESCRIPTION
To provide quality care to patients undergoing imaging procedures. The Radiology Technology Assistant must also demonstrate full knowledge of the imaging procedures within their assigned modality.
The Radiology Technical Assistant will adhere to all applicable safety policies. They will work under the direction of the Modality Technologist, Modality Lead or Supervisor, and Imaging Manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED or equivalent years of education, experience and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some patient care experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- BLS CPR Certification.
WORK SCHEDULE
Saturday through Wednesday 4:00pm to 12:00am
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists in preparing room for radiologic procedures by ensuring required supplies are available.
- Assists with patient flow within assigned modality setting.
- Responsible for transportation of patients using patient bed, stretcher, or wheelchair as necessary.
- Provides comfort measures to patient.
- Prepares and assists patients undergoing examinations, and procedures to include patient positioning.
- Stocks rooms, carts, cabinets, linen etc. as assigned or requested Demonstrates competence in IV establishment and maintenance.
- Provides and maintains a clean, safe imaging suite and performs and/or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures and infection control measures.
- Recognizes patient care priorities and manage unexpected or emergent situations.
- Checks equipment and supplies for expiration dates, electrical safety tags, intactness, and usability.
- Reports equipment and supplies needing replaced or repaired.
- Consistently model AIDET principles.
- Consistently communicates in a professional and courteous manner.
- Demonstrates acceptable productivity and practices cost containment.
- Prioritizes and completes all work in an effective and efficient manner.
- Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and flexibility.
- Reports and seeks assistance in dealing with patient complaints and concerns.
- Consistently responds to customer requests and needs in an appropriate manner.
- Answers calls accurately and with exceptional customer service at all times.
- Practices principles of patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Accurately schedules, verifies, ensures eligibility, pre-registers and arrives patients.
- Completes reminder calls to patients for scheduled appointments.
- Uses knowledge of imaging modality and anatomy to accurately copy and transfer images into PACS.

- Participates in department meetings activities and supports the clinical, departmental, and organizational philosophy and goal.

- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regards to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
