Research Contracts Analyst (Research Administration - Galveston)
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and three years related experience
JOB DESRCPITION:
Negotiates standard extramurally funded agreements and / or issues subcontracts to subrecipient partners on behalf of University, with support from UT Systems Office of General Counsel and OSP management, to ensure compliance with University and UT System policies and procedures and meet sponsors requirements and deadlines.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provides support for multiple functions or departments as it relates to any contract in which the University is a party.
- Assists in coordination, preparation and analysis of the University’s contracts.
- Reviews contracts and purchase orders for consistency and completeness.
- Provides information to internal customers to ensure customers’ understanding of contract approval requirements and obligations.
- Insures compliance with Federal and State and UT System rules and regulations.
- Collects and reviews financial information that enables management to make informed decisions regarding aligning contract activity with institutional objectives.
- Assists with preparation and submission of institutional consent agenda for quarterly Board of Regents meetings.
- Prepares presentations to describe workflows, compliance parameters, and processes. for management.
- Performs ad hoc analysis of approval processes and individual transactions. Analyzes for compliance with policy and UT System rules, for completeness and consistency, for financial integrity, for alignment with previous or existing transactions. May also analyze in aggregate for patterns in approval “bottlenecks”.
- Evaluates efficiency of the contract approval process including tracking of time involved.
- Tracks and reports basic contract inventory information (dates, dollars) and other data metrics for management.
- Develops and maintains systems and individual files for contract file maintenance, document retention, resource management, contract approval workflows, and contract performance reporting.
- Performs related duties as required
